Usually for movies, even G and PG family-friendly movies, I always find something to report on as far as language, violence, and mature content is concerned. However, in Overcomer, there is no profanity or bad language, no violence, but there are some mature subjects that perhaps make Overcomer a movie where little ones should be left at home.
Wondering if Top Gun: Maverick is ok for kids? This Top Gun: Maverick Parents Guide tells parents what they need to know regarding language, violence, and mature content. This long-awaited sequel to Top Gun is a thrilling ride that actually does the first film justice.
Parents need to know that Run Lola Run is a 1998 thriller in which Franka Potente must find a way to rescue her criminal boyfriend when he leaves a large sum of money on a subway train. There are some violent moments, including characters getting shot and killed, as well as car accidents resulting in injury or death. During scenes in which the movie uses a quick series of photographs to show the fates of minor characters after their interactions with Lola, these characters are shown shooting drugs, committing suicide, engaging in S&M. Some profanity throughout -- "f--k" used a few times, and "s--t" frequently used. Cigarette smoking throughout. Character shown drunk while drinking whiskey. Quick shot of woman injecting drugs into her arm.
Columbus Children's Theatre and the New Albany Symphony are among the entities that offer live performances for such audiences. And sensory-friendly movie screenings are scheduled at the Gateway Film Center near Ohio State University as well as the AMC theaters at Lennox Town Center and in Grove City.
Based on feedback that most movies are projected too loudly for older viewers, the theater turned the sound down and also left the lights up, so the audience could see to move around or leave. The film was screened on a day when tickets are discounted for the convenience of seniors on a fixed income, said Gateway President Chris Hamel, who added that he would like to offer the program once a month.
The two AMC theaters in central Ohio that offer sensory-friendly shows for both young and mature audiences are among 175 of the national chain's venues to do so, AMC spokeswoman Rebekah Ellingson said.
Sensory-friendly entertainment isn't limited to live performances or movie screenings. Below is a sampling of what other central Ohio organizations offer. For a complete list, visit www.ocali.org/nexus. 781b155fdc
